School Council

The School Council includes members from Yr1 – Y6.

The members are voted in after they have handed in an application form stating why they want to be part of the council.

Our school council is divided into three sections; Eco Experts, Wellbeing Warriors and Healthy Heroes.

This is the second year the School Council has been organised this way and facilitated by Mrs Martin. The school Council has become aware of how they can influence change around our school.

The School Council have decided they would like to support the Barnados charity this year.

In 2022 – 2023 The School Council chose and voted on the charities they would like to support. They then held an assembly to ask for the schools agreement and support. Money was raised for:

They raised over £400 by selling ice lollies across the year and having a stall at the summer fayre.

In term 1 and 2  the Healthy Heroes asked the school to vote on what active lunchtime clubs they would like across the year. The children voted for tennis, dance and football. The Healthy Heroes organised a meeting with Miss Liddicoat and organised the clubs, the sign up sheets were full for every club. Miss Liddicoat was happy to supervise why the council members did all of the hard work running it.

The Wellbeing Team was also hard at work. They wanted to recognise those sharing their wellbeing skills within the school. They awarded them in Friday celebration worships giving reasons for their choices.

The Eco experts were concerned about the amount of electricity was using and took it in turns to check that classes were turning off their lights and smart boards when they weren’t needed. They are going to continue this again as it is so important.

The Wellbeing Warriors also purchased a buddy bench in the playground and held an assembly to explain to the school how it could help them in the playground.

The Eco experts also purchased litter pickers and these have been well used at playtimes. Children were especially motivated by the good example set by Phoebe.

The year 2023 – 2024 looks to be even busier for Ulcombe School Council as they have a plethora of ideas that they are going to put into action. The action plan has been decided and the council members have already begun achieving their targets.

The Wellbeing Warriors have had an assembly reminding the school how to use the buddy bench.

This is their plan for the rest of the year.
